JR 2000 & Any Year

Nottngham-based MC JR recently dropped his brand new release, the ‘2000 & Any Year’ E.P. The project features production from Silins Beats, IllWillBeatz, JoeyOnTheBeat, DansonnBeats, T.O. Beats and JBizzy, and features from fellow artists such as Jaymal, Hectic and Kronic. JR finds his style of production that works best for him on this E.P as it it is basically mostly Hip Hop/Trap, with slow tempo. The E.P opens with ‘Something That You Love’ a deep and touching track from JR, in which he delivers motivational lyrics, rhyming about the passion of doing something you really love, as he draws from his own experiences with music, emphasizing his work rate, and driving home that no matter how many obstacles he encounters he will stick with it for the long haul, breaking down barriers and pushing for his dreams and success. JR recruits Jaymal and Hectic for a Trap banger called ‘Losing Her Mind’, on which JR and Hectic rhyme about that one woman that fiends for them due to their rap image, with JR and Hectic getting graphic with the descriptive lyricism as they rhyme about steamy encounters with various ladies, leaving them sprung and lusting for more. JR and Hectic deliver rapid flows on the beat, and Jaymal gives you a well-written hook. ‘Have You’ features JR expressing his feeling of being alone, asking the listener if they have ever felt like it, as he rhymes about having no friends or family around who care, having to everything on your own with no help, over time developing trust issues and depression. Both JR and Hectic delivering saddening lyricism from the heart, as they rhyme with conviction. ‘Kindness For Weakness’ features singer Sara Louise as well as Kyeza, on a track that conveys JR’s battle between his heart and emotions, as he delves in to times when he has been taken advantage of for his kindness. Kyeza spits about his time on the roads, grinding for pay and moving on his own with the feeling of not being loved, and expressing the overwhelming sense of being held down. ‘Work Hard, Pay Hard’ is a bass booming Trap beat by T.O. Beatz which brings out a rapid flow from JR, as he decimates the beat, spitting about putting in the time in the booth, pumping out the tracks until it comes that time to sit back and rest, yet he still works towards earning a wage. JR also delivers a well written chorus, in which states his intentions of doing music for those wanting more, and expressing his gratitude for the support. JR closes out the E.P with ‘I Do Music’, another track which JR rhymes about one of his true loves, music. JR expresses that he just does his best, rhyming about his versatility, his lyrical substance of which he tries to keep it real most of the time with bars from the heart, and emphasizes that he doesn’t need no bring-ins.
JR puts out yet another astounding release, with more heart and pain ins his lyricism, yet he also expresses his anger at times. He also expresses his love of music which he has always shown in his music, conveying the heart and determination to go for what he wants and to succeed, but this E.P also features some fun, light hearted lyrical content from him that depicts his playful side after working hard. JR has also got a fantastic flow that is always improving, as he sits comfortably on the beats on this project, delivery on point, and displaying differing flows as he is able to switch it up between slow and fast paced.
