Hailing from Coventry, a place that has given birth to talented names such as Skatta, Pa Salieu and JAY1, Mugun is one of many artists currently waving the flag COV, however, as his new single ‘Walking Street’ shows, he is a stand out artist possessing a fearlessness and lyrical ability, a uniqueness that sets him apart from others.

‘Walking Street’ is an energetic Trap-infused Rap banger produced by ClearGem Productions, with a thunderous bassline, skittering percussion and eerie undertones, on which Mugun displays confidence in abundance, quick-fire flows, enthralling delivery and lyrical prowess. As Mugun explains: “Walking Street is a street tale with the addition of vibes to it. It stands apart from the typical street as it doesn’t fit the norm. I wanted it to capture the confidence you get after going to all the places your parents warned you not to go”. Mugun is truly dynamic with intricate lyrics woven with a range of electrifying flows. Mugun can take to any form of Rap, whether it be Trap or Drill, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear him pop up on more Grime-orientated productions. Taking this into consideration, Mugun is undoubtedly separate entity set apart from other rappers in Black British music.

Having grown up in a music-obsessed household, Mugun has been infatuated with music from a youth, and it seems inevitable that he would one day follow in his father’s footsteps. Mugun was exposed to artists such as Sanchez and Josey Wales as a kid, however, his eager ear moved to Jamaica at just 12 years of age, when he was introduced to the islands truest cultural compass. He swiftly returned to the UK at the age of 16, by which point Mugun decided to pick up a pen and pad and take his passion for music to the next level.

Since his entrance to the scene in 2017, the young prodigy has collaborated with the likes of Kojey Radical, IAMDDB and has gained recognition from media platforms such as GRM Daily, where he housed a nomination in the ‘Get Rated’ awards, as well as winning ‘Best Urban Act’ in the Unsigned Music Awards.
