‘Summer Heat’ is the brand new collaboration between the UK’s NeeCee, a rising singer and songwriter, and seasoned producer and songwriter Jay Productions. Having had an exclusive listen to the forthcoming single, it is a rhythmically infectious, energetic jam for the summer, blending many different cultures and sounds. We catch up with NeeCee and Jay Productions to find out their back story behind the coming together of the multi-faceted song, who and what inspired them in writing and recording, and what we can expect with the release going forwards.

‘Summer Heat ‘ is the upcoming single from you both, and no doubt means a lot to you personally. What does the song mean for you, and where did you draw inspiration from for the concept?

Jay Productions: For me, Summer Heat captures that moment of escape when you’re caught between nostalgia and the present. It’s about the kind of love or connection that feels electric, like the sun blazing down on a hot day. The inspiration came from real moments memories, late-night drives, summer vibes, and the energy of being in the moment.

NeeCee: For me, Summer Heat is about reclaiming peace after chaos. That moment when you finally step away from something toxic and feel the sun on your skin again, literally and emotionally. I wrote it after a really difficult period and the lyrics are my declaration of freedom. It’s not about revenge or sadness. It’s about clarity, boundaries, and choosing joy. The inspiration came from real life and the decision to prioritise my peace over anything or anyone else.

A s a collaboration between vocalist and producer, how did the process of choosing the beat and writing the song go for you both?

Jay Productions: Honestly, it was effortless. I created a beat that blended sultry R&B textures with a tropical, feel-good rhythm. As soon as I sent it over, her vocals brought it to life like she knew exactly where the track wanted to go.

NeeCee: It started with a mood. I wanted the beat to feel like movement. When Jay sent over the instrumental idea, I instantly felt the rhythm in my chest and started humming melodies that became the hook. We built it layer by layer. Lyrically I knew what I wanted to say so the songwriting poured out quickly. We had a shared vision from the start a track that feels like freedom.

Can you give us an insight in to the recording of the song? How did you overcome the matter of locality?

Jay Productions: We weren’t always in the same place physically, but technology makes the world smaller. We worked remotely sending stems back and forth, jumping on late night calls, and refining everything until it felt right. She recorded her vocals in her home setup and I handled the engineering on my end. Despite the distance, the creative energy was seamless.

NeeCee: I recorded the vocals at home. It just felt right. This is such a personal and passionate song and I knew I could only deliver it properly from the comfort of my own space. As soon as Jay sent me the track, I wrote the entire song that same day. The lyrics just poured out of me. I wrote everything myself and it came from a really honest place. Even though we were in different locations we communicated daily to work on the details and fine-tune everything together. The distance didn’t hold us back at all if anything it gave us more freedom to create something real.

‘Summer Heat’ is a fusion of many sounds from different cultures. How has each of your musical experiences over the years helped shape the overall sound?

Jay Productions: Being in the game for over a decade, I’ve explored a lot of genres from hip-hop and R&B to reggaeton and dancehall. I love blending cultural sounds to create something fresh but familiar. That global fusion has become part of my identity as a producer, and it naturally came through in this track.

NeeCee: My background is rooted in Latin music, so I naturally gravitate towards rhythm and melody that moves people both physically and emotionally. Jay brings a fusion of global beats and modern production, and that gave the track its bounce and energy. We each brought our own flavour and it blended into something fresh but authentic. You can feel the summer in it but you can also feel the story.

This song will evoke many feelings, vibes and emotions, as music always does. For each of you, how do you feel hearing the song played back?

Jay Productions: It’s a proud moment. As a producer, hearing it come to life and knowing it connects with people that’s everything. It’s more than just a track, it’s a mood.

NeeCee: Every time I hear it, I feel proud. It reminds me how far I’ve come not just musically but personally. There’s something healing about hearing your own voice sing something you once needed to hear. It’s like an anthem to the part of me that chose peace and didn’t look back. Hearing it played back just feels like light.

If there was one message you’d both like ‘Summer Heat’ to convey to anyone listening to it, what would it be?

Jay Productions: Let yourself feel love, passion, freedom. Life is too short to hold back.

NeeCee: Let go of the things that keep you in the dark. It’s okay to outgrow people. It’s okay to choose yourself, your peace, and your happiness. Summer Heat is that breath of air when you finally step into your power and refuse to apologise for it.

Are there any plans in the pipeline to maybe turn the vibes of the song into visuals?

Jay Productions: Yes 100%. We’re currently exploring concepts for a music video. The goal is to visually represent the energy of the track warmth, connection and summer vibes.

NeeCee: Absolutely. The imagery behind the lyrics is so vivid and we’ve already been talking about visual concepts that bring that to life. Think golden hour, freedom, coastal escape, lots of sun and symbolism. It’s in the works and we’re both really excited to give people a visual that matches the emotion of the song.

What do you hope to achieve with the release of the new single?

Jay Productions: We want people to feel something to connect emotionally and vibe out at the same time. And from a broader perspective, we’re showing what happens when two creatives bring their worlds together. This is just the beginning we’re building momentum.

NeeCee: I want people to hear it and feel something shift in themselves. Whether it’s a reminder that they deserve better or just a moment to dance and feel good, I hope it connects. On a wider level, I also want this track to open doors for more bilingual, rhythm-led storytelling in mainstream music. This is only the beginning.

Do you both have any plans for other music releases in the future, either solo or together?

Jay Productions: Absolutely. Summer Heat opened the door for more collaborations. We’ve got a couple more tracks in development and I’ve got solo productions dropping soon too.

NeeCee: Definitely. I’ve got my own solo projects lined up including more Latin-inspired tracks and songs that blend English and Spanish storytelling. And this collab has been so creatively energising that I’d love to work with Jay again. There’s more to come for sure. This is just one chapter.
