Dont Flop recently unveiled a brand Rap Battle, and another in their USA Rap Battle series, featuring Rappers from across the pond, Ness Lee of Atlanta, and Heartless, from out West, making his debut. Heartless was the first up in round 1, setting the tone for a battle riddled with punchlines and crazy wordplay. Heartless gets straight to, breaking down Ness Lee with punchlines, speaking on various embarrassing altercations, and the stand out bar for me was ‘if you don’t want death, then you better come hearing aid’. Also Heartless rhymed about taking Ness Lee’s girl and making her his fan. Ness Lee counter attacked him with his own tirade of punchlines, stating Heartless couldn’t get his ‘broad’, and also dissing his appearance, specifically his hair line, the most impressive thing in round 1 is when he backtracks on his lyrics, put another swerve on his bars with funny consequences. Round 2 featured Heartless creatively dropping gun bars, labeling Ness an embarrassment to his squad, and a no show in beef, and stating he is ‘ . . . harder to find than the bat cave’. Ness Lee mocks fans on social networks for hyping up Heartless, and revealing Heartless’ denial and self-confession that Ness is better, and continues to make reference to his opponent’s weight and hair line. I think Heartless stole it in round 3, making references to Ness Lee’s skin colour, going on like the cop from ‘Don’t Be A Menace To Society . . .’, the spoof, with a range of bars that highlight his dark pigmentation, which has the crowd in tears almost. The battle ends with Ness Lee emphasizing his superior lyricism and skills amongst other things. On the whole, both rappers were superb, both strong opponents, and their wordplay was impeccable and quite humorous, but in my opinion, Heartless took the win by a smidge.
