UK Hip Hop lyricist/producer Pepstar recently joined SBTV for a brand new Beats & Bars session for 2014. The producer starts the session off by layering up a beat from scratch, starting with claps, a hard, thumping beat and a melody made up of continuous synthed instrument. Pepstar concocts a bass booming, infectious instrumental, on which he laces it with solid bars, name checking several known artists such as Wretch 32, Ghetts and Scorcher, showcasing superb wordplay skills, as he goes on to pepper the beat with brilliant lyricism that contains some amazing metaphors. Pepstar comes across as cheeky, especially when he rhymes with some of the girls he associates with, mixing in bars about being playa with lyrics about his money making ways. The confidence seeps in to Pepstar’s delivery, and he flows impeccably, with lots of energy and fire.
