Sakez – ‘Therapeutic Clouds’ EP

West London Rapper Sakez is back with a brand new EP called ‘Therapeutic Clouds’, with five tracks that feature production predominantly from JB of collective OG Club. ‘Know From The Start’ features lyrics from Sakez in which he rhymes about the changes in his life yet not having let situations change him, expressing his relief that he still alive and that everything that happens is meant to be. Sakez rhymes over a constant stream of snares and hard hitting beat here, with background vocals adding a certain sense of sadness or emotion. The title track is a bass heavy beat on which Sakez spits about friends that have turned enemies, and using the metaphor in the hook to emphasize that he has to take himself to a higher zone to relieve himself of the stress, with an emphasis on time being of the essence. Sakez delivers a remix of ‘I Ain’t Got The Time’, which is produced by Young Soul and Elament, featuring Elament on the chorus, with some of the lyrics using double entendres, as the mc’s express that they don’t have the time for else rather than making money, having no other options but to out and grind hard to make things happen. ‘Before I Die’ features 169, and is produced by Sakez himself, as the lyrics once again stress that time is of the essence and that you have to get it in before you depart, and both Sakez and 169 rhyme about the less than comfy circumstances that they are living in, the poor living conditions they have to get up out of and the rough area where any day could be their last. The final track is called ‘For You Mumma Freestyle’, and once again is produced by JB and is a dark, menacing Trap production with melodious piano keys kicking in a certain point, as Sakez expresses his gratitude for his mother, owing everything to her, revealing that he learnt from her everything he knows, and expressing that he will always care for her and put her before everything. Sakez employs one line delivery on this particular track. Overall, this EP is a well written project from Sakez which delves in to his stressful life, with Sakez emphasizing his hope for change and his desire to make something out of all of the negatives.
