Grime veteran and former Mucky Wolfpack member So Large is back in the field with an energetic new single entitled ‘Pre-Season’, taking it back to his Grime roots.

We speak for everyone when we say So Large has been missed, as ‘Pre-Season’ serves as his first release of 2021, however, So Large kicks back into his distinctive raw, gritty and charismatic sound that he is known for, going in on a cinematic-like Mystery production, laden with echoing sirens and explosive adlibs. So Large displays aggressive flows and delivery on the bass-heavy beat, spraying bars that see him step on the track with the aura of a boss, swinging with a barrage of punchlines, showing a fearlessness and ruggedness in sound and in essence. So Large is just warming up, as he gears up to release his forthcoming EP.

‘Pre-Season’ is accompanied by crisp visuals, by Paps300, following So Large around various high-end clothing stores, with his own clothing brand Clean Unltd making a cameo, which further shows his change in lifestyle, with him reflecting on his upbringing and his trajectory up until now. Having spoken on the release, So Large says, “This tune is called pre-season as it’s the warm up for the EP I had a session with Mystery at a studio in London and we laid a different track. He gave me a file to take away and I found this gem on there. The rest is history, it’s high energy and clean and will let the scene know that the EP will be a game changer”.

Whilst So Large is a name synonymous with the Grime scene, he has been known to push the boundaries of the genre, utilizing his versatility to jump on a wide range of genres, including Trap and Drill, although essentially, as he once stated in Trench Mag last year, he is most comfortable “…making music that is dark and 140bpm, and most drill beats are dark and 140bpm”. So Large continues to evolve not just sonically, but through his image and brand, as he maintains the modern-day swagger. Easily getting on two decades since he first got in to music, So Large boasts an impressive catalogue including 2015’s ‘500 Grams’ EP, and more recently, ‘Jerk Man’, ‘Sandwich’, alongside fellow veteran Ghetts, plus his 2020 drop ‘Whole One’. With a hunger and determination to succeed, So Large continues to re-invent himself musically, and his talent and skill speaks for itself.
