Sheffield Production duo Sticky Blood return with their first release of the year with a music video for ‘Valium’ featuring singer Gaby Henshaw. Andy Nicholson and Jamie Shields produce an energetic, rhthmic electronic beat with plucky, anthemic club-style synths and a kicking beat. Gaby delivers dreamy-like singing vocals with the lyrics of the song and “valium” being used as a metaphor to express a desire to enter a state of sleep and escaping reality. Sticky Blood do extremely well on the production side which switches up towards the middle with a low down dep bass incorporated and the builds are fantastically executed. Having worked with such singers as Teri Walker and Tom Prior before to create deep, emotional tracks, this one continues a pattern whilst showcasing their and Gaby Henshaw’s talent. Check out the music video too which depicts a girl up in the rocky hills running away but yet searching for something. Having been left to interpretation but conveying a desperation, it leaves the viewer with questions to be answered. The visuals are cinematic and on a grand scale and the music is brilliant, a quality track that wouldn’t be out of place in clubs and raves.
