Izzie Gibbs -Yin Yang EP + Outta Da Hood [Music Video]

Northampton based emcee Izzie Gibbs just released his new “Yin Yang” EP this past week, via Dice Recordings. Highly anticipated, the EP features label mates Big Narstie and Tremz, Donae’O and Young T & Bugsey. Also dropping on the same day as the EP was the video for ‘Outta Da Hood’, the third video released from the project. He also held a launch party for the EP last Thursday at the Relentless Studio in Central London where he invited fans down to see him perform tracks off of there.
‘Chillin’, a monumental collaboration with Donae’O was the first video to be released from the EP, and is an energetic Grime riddim celebrating Izzie and Donae’O’s love of women, and with motive for the night, to “Netflix and Chill” with their chosen woman for the night. An infectious anthem from Izzie Gibbs, but the second single ‘OK’ was more harsh, a trap-influenced rap banger, where Izzie delivers heated bars attacking rival emcee’s and so-called bad boys.
‘Outta Da Hood’ shows a more insightful side to Izzie Gibbs, yet spitting with conviction and emotion in his delivery, this though-provoking track deals with Izzie’s desire to escape the hood and the negativity surrounding it. ‘Forreal’ sees Izzie on his anti-social against “wasteman” again, whilst ‘Hit a Raise’ features Young T & Bugsey. This track explores the incline in funds for these artists, who show off their wealth, hitting the town in new whips and getting with a bad bxtch. Big Narstie and Tremz team up with Izzie Gibbs on ‘Everything Good’, a road rap banger that lets us know that these three are bless in the hood, handling their business. Big Narstie drops a sick verse referencing films such as Boyz N The Hood and The Full Monty, whilst Tremz spits a verse in his undeniably captivating Scouse accent. Izzie just tops off the track with an energetic verse and crazy ad libs.
“Yin Yang” EP showcases Izzie Gibbs’ progression as a lyricist and song writer, and his varied abilities in that he can dig deeper on certain songs. From Northampton, Izzie Gibbs has rose steadily to all corners of the UK, gaining support from platforms such as GRM Daily, Link Up TV, DJ Mag, On Smash, 1Xtra and many more. Having won ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2016 Urban Music Awards, Stormzy bringing him out on stage at Detonate Festival, and performing alongside Stormzy, Jaykae and Dapz On The Map on the Kiss Grime Show, all in 2017 alone, he has also featured on Kamakaze’s Pull Up remix, and dropped two freestyles, and was co-signed by Big Mike aka Stormzy as one to watch! This all shows Izzie’s sheer determination and the undeniable talents he has to able to get with and work the calibre of artists that he has. No surprise then that this young emcee from Northampton carved a way in to the scene, all the way from Northampton, as he is hungry and talented. “A idiosyncratic style, overwhelming charisma and his lengthy list of fans and peers”, energy on track as well as live, and vast lyrical skills, the future looks bright for Izzie Gibbs!
