Riko Dan – Rise of the Farda
Roll Deep’s Riko Dan recently released his brand new album via iTunes entitled “Rise of the Farda” which sees the Ragga Grime artist go in with 12 hard tracks not including the intro which even that sets up a heavyweight album by the London war lord.
Riko Dan showcases once again more mad flow, and drops big boy bars on most tracks, bringing in a few features including Trigga, Flowdan, and Gods Gift. Tracks to stand out for are “Last Man Standing”, which sees him drop nothing but hard bars on the Grime instrumental which is a refix of Chase & Status’ “Eastern Jam”, flowing wicked on the tune. “Rise of the Farda” is a Grime beat with a Ragga influence, seeing him turn war lord, spitting in a thick ragga accent for the chorus, going in ham with the extremely heavyweight bars. My personal favorite is “Skeng Ting” which is a Reggae / Grime beat, a gully track which is sort of in the same vain as “Informer Must Dead”, seeing Riko spit the whole thing in a Jamaican accent, flowing rapid smashing it. 2Stand & Deliver” sees Riko Dan link up with Trigga and Flowdan for a Dubstep tune, Trigga taking care of the chorus, this is a massive track in my eyes, Flowdan and Riko both hitting you hard with big bars that pack more of a punch than Kimbo Slice.
All in all, this is as big a release as any other Riko Dan album, and one thing I like is that Riko stays real and gully, making music that he likes, not watering down his style for the masses, staying true for the Grime fans. BIIIIG Album!
