Shockers teams up with Ghetts and Joe Black to release a brand new video for Link Up TV entitled Bally On. The track has a Hip Hop, Trap style beat, with a dark melodic string/key note used throughout, employing a prominent 808 snare sample, otherwise featuring minimal percussion, the three MC’s rap about their lifestyles and taking revenge on anybody tryin to mess with theirs. Shockers, Ghetts and Joe Black all have varied styles, with Ghetts kicking off proceedings with his skippy, hyped up delivery, broken up with calm punchlines. The chorus is a dark, almost sung chant, delivered with a menacingly smooth tone. Shockers drops his big bars, adopting a US style Trap flow, but twisting it up with his amped mannerisms, finishing each punch line with a higher pitched characteristic. Joe Black surprises most of all, with a flow I’ve never heard him use before, meandering through his gully, punchline filled rhymes, mixing up the pace all the time. Very impressive stuff from three of the countries leading talents in their field, performing Trap, but truly making it a UK sound. Gritty but ghetto fabulous music, with enough about it to make that international commercial crossover to a wider audience. The video is a slick hood video, using some visually stunning effects, and well used locations throughout, simple but effective.
