Mobb Ryder – The Blockumentary

The Blockumentary

South London Rapper Mobb Ryder’s brand new mixtape was released recently via GRM Daily’s Bandcamp, and features 18 solid tracks, each playing a part in the story of Moob Ryder growing up and coming from his own area. Straight from the off, in the intro “12 Stories”, Mobb spits over a soulful Hip Hop instrumental, hard hitting, rhyming about his own perspective of what he witnessed in his own bits, living in flats, feeling trapped. With features from the likes of Tony Flamez, Shox The Rebel and Rapman, Mobb Ryder goes on to bring you stories of the shady characters that he encounters, fakes and snakes, ways and means of hustling, and what it entails. Mobb Ryder shows remorse for his life of sin in tracks like Trap banger “Lord Forgive Us”, thinking about where he may go when he dies in “Blown Away”, a mellow Hip Hop ballad of sorts. The mixtape also features some of Mobb’s well known tracks including “Ain’t Nothin Changed”, and “Penicillin On Toast” which is a devastating story of a broke man trying to fend for his family, on JSA, things not going his way, pulled in to a life of crime, the whole episode ending horridly.

This mixtape is a story of Mobb Ryder’s life, not only his but he speaks for the poor as well as hustlers, painting a picture of a community anywhere in the UK, not glamorising a lifestyle of crime, but rather swaying you away from it. The story-telling on this project is amazing, Mobb showcasing his creativity and originality, the production is well chosen, with Mobb Ryder bringing hard-hitting flows to the table.
