Danzey – Different Breed
North London rapper Danzey comes with his second mixtape outing, “Different Breed”, in which he puts out 22 strong, solid tunes, spitting over Hip Hop and Trap beats, some well known instrumentals are used for this mixtape whilst others may be original or just not so much heard. Danzey explores various subjects on “Different Breed”, ranging from girls and love, street life, the hustle and grind everyday, dreams of making it out of the hood, and a few tracks where Danzey puts his pain in to the form of lyrics, rhyming about the pain in his life, and the struggle out on the roads.
Danzey has a rough and ready tone to his voice when he raps which distinguishes him and makes him original in way with the style that he brings to the table, and he almost attacks the beat with a hungriness in his voice and flow, and the flow and delivery is a sort of creeping feeling, Danzey creeps on the track, slow but smooth and calm, but hard hitting, and his lyricism is sometimes simple but effective, the content of lyrics seems to be somewhat true to what he experiences which makes him one of the few real artists. Some tracks follow a story which shows Danzey’s creativeness and song writing ability.
Some tracks to look out for on “Different Breed” would have to be “Why”, a calm, mellow and somewhat deep track, both in the production and lyricism, Danzey putting his pain on the track as pointed out before, rhyming about trust, struggling everyday, taking you on a journey through some previous situations in his life, slowly taking you through emphasising each line, letting it sink in and provoke a thought. “Mum” featuring Reptar and Delsa sees all three rappers pay tribute to their mums, speaking on what they have done for them all, apologising for anything that they have put them through, and promising them that basically when they make it they will see them alright for life with a house, diamonds, and about anything they want. This is a deep tune, and sees Danzey, Reptar and Delsa kick true and meaningful lyrics, Reptar and Delsa especially drop impressive flows, delivering their bars superbly.
Another song that I particularly liked is “Bonnie & Clyde”, a love song of sorts and a remix of 2 Pac’s “Me & My Girlfriend”, which sees Danzey rhyming about the his girlfriend, giving her the world, telling her that he is down with her for life and will be by her side always. Featured on the track is S U G A, a singer who is exceptional on the chorus, replying to Danzey lending from the original, and also drops her own verse, singing with a swagger in her voice, reaching the stars with an impressive voice.
There are many more songs to choose from on here, but those are just a few of my favorites, Danzey bringing in many features, some which you might not know if you are not familiar with Danzey, but certainly a few artists that are making a buzz themselves. To name a few, Lee Weathers, Reptar, Delsa, Lambo, Gatez, Swingz, Showa Bords, and Danzey’s right hand men Big Jiv and Young Tev, There are plenty of different vibes to catch from this mixtape, which offers up bangers as well as deep ones, where Danzey gives you an insight to his lifestyle.
