Urban Unsigned UK affiliate Ddub took to his soundcloud to upload his most recent project, the Grime Travelling EP Vol 1, consisting of 7 solid Grime bangers, featuring fellow artists Papa T and Feisty as well as production from DJ Kdubz, Guni Tunes, Uncut and DAssassin Beatz. Many of the tracks possess Trap influences as well as the likes of “Gone” taking on a Dubstep stance. As far as lyricism goes, Ddub comes across as a conscious lyricist, rhyming about his life, as well as the world around him, processing and evaluating a cruel world, trying to break free from the madness, most times ending up either recording his thoughts on to track or smoking weed. This is a mixtape for social misfits who can relate to the lyrical content, and those who appreciate the skills that Ddub holds, destroying most of these Grime dubs with rapid flows and gully delivery. Some stand out tracks are “Abducted” in which Ddub spits thoughtful bars over a space-like, eerie Trap/Grime production, “Shutdown” featuring Papa T, featuring both artists shutting down the beat with some superb metaphors and punchlines, Ddub treating the beat like weed, bunning it, whilst Papa T likens the scene a porno, banging it and effing it up, both spraying ferocious bars. Also check out the Grime version of DWMT prodcued by Guni Tunes and DJ Kdubz entitled “Don’t Waste My Grime”, Ddub alongside Feisty spitting sickness over the bass-heavy instrumental.
