Mobb Ryder | Penicillin On Toast [GRM Daily]

Mobb Ryder

GRM Daily release a brand new video for UK rapper and talented storyteller Mobb Ryder. The track entitled “Penicillin On Toast”, taken from: The Blockumentary mixtape, is a drama like lyrical working, telling the tragic story of a man trying to look after his poverty stricken family, by undertaking desperate measures. Mobb Ryder spits his dark tale over an old skool style hip hop beat with a prominent piano riff throughout. The melodic instrumental sets the tone of the song for Ryder to weave his lyrical web of sadness. Mobb rhymes about such situations that many can relate to especially in the UK, where he sets up a story of a young man on benefits trying to hold his family together, put food on the table and pay the bills. Being tired of being treated like nothing whilst being a claimant, he storms off to the point where he has no money, debt collectors ringing at his door and taking his possessions. Mobb Ryder’s story ends in horrific circumstances as his story unfolds, the character setting up the night to rob a store. Mobb deals with and mentions in his lyrics the thoughts going through the characters mind, his conscience kicking in not to mention his nerves. Ryder’s story isn’t glamorous, it depicts a stark reality, a real situation of which hopefully not too many people are forced in to. However, this track showcases Ryder’s creative story-telling, and the video is great, cinematic shots with lots of actors, and tells the story perfectly with a beginning, middle and end.
