MR EAZI TO TAKEOVER THE BBC RADIO 1XTRA AIRWAVES
Touching down in the UK next week to make final preparations for his self curated ‘Life is Eazi Culture Festival’ on 23rd September at Roundhouse in Camden, Mr Eazi is set to takeover the airwaves of BBC Radio 1Xtra as he hosts 3 hours of Afrobeats in place of usual resident, DJ Edu on Destination Africa from 10pm BST 27th August, 2017.
The Afrobeats superstar who passionately elevates African culture in every fibre of his artistry, will be flying straight in from Ghana and with his insider knowledge of the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries, will undoubtedly have his own selection of fresh new music and artists to play during his three hour stint on air.
The takeover is the latest of many major milestones that has seen the world’s biggest networks support the undeniable star. He recently reached dizzying new heights as Billboard.com announced him as Apple Music’s latest ‘Up Next’ artist, joining a select few, which include previously featured 6lack, Khalid and Sigrid, and making him the first Afrobeats artist on the list. Mr Eazi then went on to be featured on The Late Late Show with James Corden, performing his huge single ‘Leg Over’, (which itself has 15 million YouTube views alone), check out the performance here: https://youtu.be/WF5Tpb34ydo .
No stranger to the radio waves, Julie Adenuga broke the news earlier this month that there would be an addition of ‘Detty Radio’ on the Beats1 schedule, seeing Mr Eazi hosting his own show on the station. The news of his guest slot on the BBC makes him the first Afrobeats artist to of ever-hosted shows on both platforms to date, adding to his ever-lengthening list of ‘firsts’ that have made him one of the biggest game-changers in musical influence this year.
Currently on his Detty World Tour, which has seen him play venues such as PlayStation theatre in New York, SXSW and dates across Canada, Congo, UK and Nigeria, 2017 has also seen Mr Eazi achieve numerous accolades, including BET, MOBO and African Pride nominations. Unstoppable at every stage, he now goes on to combine all aspects of the vibrant African Culture, to present the ‘Life is Eazi Culture Festival’ on 23rd September at Roundhouse in Camden. The festival is set to feature special guests, including familiar favourites from the UK music scene and big names from Africa alongside DJs, dancers, artists and more, showcasing their talent and the influence of their culture. Mr Eazi will be rounding off the festival with a special two-hour set and there will be VIP meet and greets available as he vows to make the event as personal as possible, putting his stamp on it and ensuring an intimate and welcoming vibe is created, as it is set to become an essential go to event in the capital’s cultural calendar.
