Coventry’s Skatta releases his first single release ‘Record Box’ from his forthcoming album ‘Cinema Ticket’, with support already coming from Itch FM, BBC Music Introducing West Midlands, and the campaign is expected to reach greater heights as the days and weeks progress.
Having been named the winner of The Artist Fund 2018 in co-operation with the PRS for Music Foundation, the funds helped Skatta to write, develop and record his new album ‘Cinema Ticket’ which launches and premieres in November of this year.
‘Record Box’, produced by Dipiz for Broc Recordz, is labelled an “anthem for the crate diggers and vinyl lovers”, you can’t deny that title as Skatta combines his superb lyrical skills with the boom-bap style Hip Hop production from Dipiz, schooling the listeners on Hip Hop in it’s purest form. Skatta flows with rhythm and finesse, expressing his love for everything Hip Hop, from the vinyls to the DJ’s spinning the tunes, coming across as a top student of the game, someone that has studied the best to be the best.
From listening to ‘Record Box’, you can hear and tell that it’s created with genuine passion for the craft, and the visuals, filmed and directed by Dipiz, also reflect Skatta’s love for vinyl hunting, or crate digging, as he can be seen shuffling through his own vinyl record collection, performing the song with ease. The FX in particular bring about an old school look to the visuals.
Check out the flames that Skatta delivers to your speakers, or boombox even, bringing it back to the foundations of Hip Hop. Leave us your feedback in the comments section below.
