Nearly Native – I Have Been Waiting
‘I Have Been Waiting’ is the new release from Nearly Native, fresh from co-producing rapper Akala’s new EP ”Visions”. Following up his debut track ‘Colour’ ft. Femme, Nearly Native invites us in to his “expansive sonic world”, giving us a smash UK Garage influenced track featuring dark, distorted vocals over a thumping, up-tempo beat pattern, gritty bassline and intense, whirring synths.
Nearly Native is a music project birthed by London based James Leggett. A fast-rising producer, musician and songwriter, up until now, Leggett has been responsible for some huge moments in pop and electronic music. A guitarist for Jonas Blue, co-writer and producer for V V Brown, and co-producer on the new EP ”Visions” (July 2017) for Akala, plus writer of so many hits for a plethora of other artists, you can be excused for being breath-taken by just a few of James’ accomplishments behind the scenes. Oh yeah, he’s even been in a band with Hollywood superstar Jamie Dornan!
Nearly Native’s music is influenced by ambient soundscapes and jarring soundtracks from films such as Requiem for a Dream, classic UK Garage sound, and everything in between. A pure, organic, musical element is at the heart of each of Nearly Native’s productions, as he stays “. . .true to his roots as a musician first and foremost.”
